Child Abuse: A 9years old girl tells how step- father defiled her

My father undressed me and forced himself on me, a nine-year-old juvenile girl of Chelah Farms told the Kitwe Magistrates’, Thursday.

This is a matter in which 39 year old Lewis is charged with defilement contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Allegations are that on November 1, 2018 in Kitwe, Lewis had unlawful carnal knowledge of his 9-year-old step-daughter.

The juvenile who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Owen Chibalo for Commencement of trial, told the courts that her step-after had unlawful carnal knowledge of her after which he threatened to beat her up if she disclosed the ordeal to her mother.

the victim told the court that on the material day, her mother left her with her step-father as she went to visit her grandmother who was ill.

She narrated that in the night, her step-father went to the bedroom where she was sleeping. The juvenile explained that after waking her up, he undressed her and forced his way, warning that he would beat her up if she screamed or disclosed the ordeal to anyone else.

And a 39 year old Doctor from Kitwe Central hospital told the court that upon examination, he found that the girls vagina had been penetrated.

Dr Ian Kunda told the court that bruises on the juvenile victim were as result of of a sexual abuse that she had experienced.

Magistrate Chibalo adjourned the matter to a later date for continued trial.
